The gold standard for replacing missing teeth and securing bridges and dentures
Live your life to the full with dental implants from Brunswick Dental.
Dental implants look, feel and work like real teeth. They can replace a single missing tooth, help stabilise bridges and dentures, or replace an entire set. Not only can implants give you greater confidence when smiling, eating and socialising, but they can also help maintain your natural teeth for longer by sharing the load placed on them.
If looked after properly, they are the best long-term solution available today. They restore your ability to chew, improve your appearance, help keep nearby teeth stable and boost your quality of life. Nigel Suggett, the principal dentist at Brunswick Dental has one of the best reputations amongst dentists who work with implants in the North East. He concentrates solely on implant dentistry and is passionate about it for several reasons:
Patient satisfaction is what Nigel loves most. He enjoys spending lots of time with our patients whilst they are on this journey, getting to know them and building a relationship and then most of all, seeing the difference his work has on their confidence and lives.
He also thrives on combining art and science. Nigel’s artistic skills focus on the fine details of implant dentistry, ensuring the implant suits the person, fits seamlessly and looks natural. He is at the forefront of this advanced skill set and keeps up to date with the latest techniques.
The latest technology, techniques and materials
We plan every implant placement with a CBCT scanner. This state-of-the-art 3D scanner allows us to quickly and precisely position each implant to ensure your procedure is as safe as possible.
Nigel insists on using Dentsply-Sirona implants, one of the top 5 implant companies in the world. The research behind Dentsply-Sirona implants is extensive and they have a long history with a huge number of academic papers to back up their systems and techniques. Dentsply-Sirona has credibility and longevity, just like Nigel.
Dentsply-Sirona implants, nationally, achieves a 96% success rate – Nigel’s surpasses that at 98% because of his due diligence – he will only place an implant if it is the right thing to do and has a good chance of long-term success.

For passionate, dedicated, comforting implant care, look no further than Brunswick Dental, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Our implant treatment co-ordinator, Ellie, will be by your side throughout your implant journey. Meet Ellie and Nigel at your initial, 30-minute free consultation where they will explain the implant process, answer your questions and book a CBCT scan from which a clinical assessment and fee can be determined.
Brunswick Dental offers both local anaesthetic and IV (intravenous) sedation for implant procedures to ensure your comfort throughout, and we are pleased to offer a 5-year implant guarantee (T&Cs apply and are explained upfront) following your clinical examination and the determination of risk factors specific to your case.
As well as direct appointments, we also accept referrals from other dental practices around the North East. If you are a local practice wanting to refer a patient to us, please see the referral section of our website.
Nigel teaches a year-long course in implants to other dentists for which he is well known and respected. Alongside this he teaches a UK-wide course on the advantages of gum grafting. He also acts as a mentor to dentists who are new to placing and restoring implants.
An implant is an artificial root that replaces the root of a missing tooth. It can be placed in either the upper or lower jaw and, in time, will bond with your jawbone to create a firm foundation to which a replacement false tooth, bridge or denture is fixed.
What are dental implants made from?
The implant screw or post that replaces the root of a missing tooth is made from titanium, which is biocompatible with bone structure, allowing it to bond with the jawbone to provide a secure anchor.
How long do implants last?
If looked after properly, dental implants last for many years and long into the future – they are the longest lasting option for a missing tooth available on the market today.
How long will my implant treatment take?
Dental implant treatment is complex and involves multiple visits to the practice. The minimum treatment time is usually a few months and for most patients takes three to four months. For more complex treatment its can take over a year although this is unusual.
Can anyone have dental implants?
Yes, if you are over 18 and in reasonably good health. Our thorough assessment will determine whether dental implants are the right option for you. At your implant assessment consultation, your mouth would first be examined and then appropriate x-rays, models and photographs taken. If implants are appropriate, a full treatment plan would be developed together with an estimate of the costs of providing the treatment.
How much do dental implants cost?
Dental implant treatment starts from £2,600 and payment options are available, including 0% finance. Over time, dental implants will prove to be the most cost-effective solution to replacing missing teeth.
When can dental implants be used?
Tooth implants can be used for a wide range of treatment from one implant to replace one missing tooth, two implants to secure a loose denture, through to multiple implants to replace all the teeth in the mouth.
What are the stages in dental implant treatment?
Following an initial consultation to assess for suitability, you will usually require x-rays or CBCT scans. If necessary bone re-building will then be carried out to repair any missing bone – although this procedure sounds alarming, please rest assured that it is quite straightforward and can be completed in-house at Brunswick Dental. Once your teeth and gums are healthy you will have surgery to place the implants using a local anaesthetic. The procedure takes one or two hours depending on the number of implants being placed. Healing takes between three and six months. For some patients it may be possible to place a temporary crown. This will need careful cleaning and it is important to limit the amount of biting force. Further visits will check healing and once fully healed the missing teeth will be restored. This part usually requires multiple visits , each restoration is individually crafted.
What are the risks to having implant treatment?
Patients can experience some bruising, a dull ache, swelling and discomfort. The effects vary depending on the number of implants being placed and the symptoms can usually be managed with painkillers or a cold pack. Damage to nerves or roots of adjacent teeth can occur but are not common. When choosing a date for implant placement, avoid significant social engagements and work commitments for a week, to be on the safe side. Taking time off work is not usually necessary.
Can implants fail?
Implants are medical devices placed into bone, and as with all treatments, a small proportion of patients do have failures. Failures are more common when patients have identifiable risk factors that may predispose them to an increased risk of failure. As part of the consultation process Nigel will discuss your individual risk profile, and discuss the likely success rate of your implant treatment. Implant work, like all other dental treatments, will not succeed unless good oral hygiene is maintained. Implants are very similar to natural teeth and patients who are prone to gum problems can experience similar problems. Because implants are placed into bone, the support of adequate bone and gums are required for successful treatment
Is there anything you can do to improve the chance of success?
Smoking is a major factor in treatment failure and complete cessation is recommended. For people who grind their teeth, it may be wise to have a plastic guard made to protect the implants and teeth from damage or failure.

One of our lovely patients came to us wanting to replace her upper front central tooth, which was loose and had an exposed root and discoloration. After exploring her options, she chose a Dental Implant for a long-lasting, natural-looking solution.
🦷 Here’s what we did: ✅ Extracted the tooth & performed a gum graft to improve recession ✅ Provided a temporary crown for a seamless transition ✅ Completed teeth whitening for a brighter smile ✅ Finally, fitted her permanent implant crown—and just look at that result! 😍
Her smile is now beautifully restored, and she couldn’t be happier! 💙

🌟✨ Gum Recession Surgery now available at Brunswick Dental! ✨🌟
Have you ever wondered if gum loss can be repaired? The answer is YES! 💪 Here’s a recent success story where Nigel performed perio surgery to correct gum recession on a delighted patient. 🦷
📸 Photo 1: Before surgery, the circled area reveals the patient’s gum recession above the tooth.
📸 Photo 2: Nigel skillfully removed healthy soft tissue from the roof of the mouth for a gum graft, then stitched the site.
📸 Photo 3: Witness the gum graft in position, soon to fuse seamlessly with surrounding gum tissue.
📸 Photo 4: Just a few weeks post-surgery, the roof of the mouth is fully healed.
📸 Photo 5: 8 weeks post-surgery, behold the incredible success! The gum graft has beautifully fixed the patient’s gum recession, leaving them with a radiant and confident smile. 😁🌈
🎉 A very happy patient who can now smile with confidence! 🎉
Another amazing smile makeover! This patient’s journey included:
✔ Extractions & hygiene treatment ✔ Immediate dentures – a temporary solution placed right after extractions to restore function and maintain appearance ✔ Upper complete denture & lower partial denture – once the extraction sites healed and the gums stabilised, permanent dentures were custom-made for the patient.
💡 What are Immediate Dentures? Immediate dentures are custom-made prosthetic teeth placed on the same day as tooth extractions. They help protect the gums, support healing, and ensure you never go without teeth!
Now, they can smile with confidence again! 😁💙

Nigel has worked his magic once again! This patient came to us feeling self-conscious about a growing gap between her teeth and discomfort while eating. She wanted a permanent, fixed solution – and that’s exactly what Nigel delivered!
With a single dental implant, a gum graft, and a custom crown, her smile is beautifully restored. And here’s the best part – even during the healing process, she had a fixed temporary crown! This means no gap or denture was needed while the implant was settling. Not only is she smiling with confidence, but she’s also enjoying her favourite foods again! 🍽️😁
