Dr Nigel Suggett

Dentist and Practice Owner BDS GDC No: 103408

Nigel is the owner of Brunswick Dental. He splits his time between Brunswick and his other practice, Seaham Smiles, which he has owned since 2010.

Dr Nigel Suggett studied dentistry at Sheffield University and graduated in 2006. Dr Suggett’s wife Barbara is also a dentist. She used to work in the Community Dental Service treating patients who have special needs, are medically compromised or phobic. Barbara joined us at Brunswick Dental in April 2024 as our Business Manager. They have two children, Phoebe and Lucy and a cat called Milo. In his free time, Nigel likes to play golf, football, and is also a keen runner.

From early in his career Nigel had a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry, to improve his skills and expand his knowledge he attended the Tipton Training Academy where he won an award on the Advanced Restorative course. Since 2013 he has been involved with treating patients undergoing dental implant placement and has completed the Practical Implant Dentistry course under the tutorship of Ashok Sethi. Cosmetic dentistry and implants go hand in hand, so it was a natural progression for him to train in the use of dental implants.

Nigel is an assistant lecturer for the Northern Deanery. He has helped run many courses ranging from beginners to advanced use of rubber dams all the way through to crown and bridge preparation and design. He also runs introduction courses for dentists who do not work with implants and is a mentor to dentists who are new to using implants. If you are a dentist and would like Nigel to come to your practice to run one of these courses or are interested in being mentored please message the practice.

Dental implants replace missing teeth and help people have confidence, not only with their smile but also with the way their teeth work. One of the first patients he helped with dental implants had been from dentist to dentist having different sets of dentures made. She could not get used to the bulkiness of dentures, they were uncomfortable, and didn’t stay in place very well. Nigel placed dental implants and attached some teeth to the implants. She can now happily go out for meals with friends and family, something that previously she was not willing to do due to the discomfort and embarrassment she experienced when eating. The pleasure it gave him to help her smile and eat with confidence is something that could only have been achieved with dental implants.

Nigel is also a visiting implant surgeon at five other dental practices around the North East which he must fit in around an already busy week!

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (2006) Sheffield
